New Mercedes-Benz S class update.
Mercedes-Benz India unveiled the locally produced S-Class today, priced at Rs 1.57 crore for the S 350d and Rs 1.62 crore for the S 450. (Indian ex-showroom) Although the latest-generation S-Class has been on sale in India since June of this year, it has only been available as an entirely imported car, with pricing beginning at Rs 2.17 crore for the S 400d and Rs 2.19 crore for the S 450. Prices for the S-Class diesel have been lowered by Rs 60 lakh as a result of local assembly, while the petrol model has been reduced by Rs 55 lakh.
It has less features than imported Launch Edition automobiles; and
SKD units cost Rs 55-60 lakh less than the fully imported counterpart.
Mercedes-Benz debuted the latest-generation S-Class in India in a special Launch Edition grade with several additional features and an AMG Line trim on the exterior for a sportier appearance.
The most apparent visual difference between the locally produced S-Class and the imported S-Class is that it is now available in basic trim with more muted front and rear bumpers. It also gets new alloy wheels at the 19-inch size.
Inside, the S-Class retains features such as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch portrait-oriented OLED touchscreen with Mercedes-Benz' latest MBUX software that includes facial, voice, and fingerprint recognition, 64-color active ambient lighting, electronically adjustable front and rear seats with message functions, and rear front airbags. There is also the chauffer package, which allows back seats to recline and raise the leg rest, as well as passengers to slide the co-driver seat forward to provide additional space. The Burmester 4D surround sound system in the CBU has been replaced with the Burmester 3D sound system.
Mercedes-Benz has made a minor adjustment to the S-Class lineup, with the S 350d replacing the S 400d found on the Launch Edition. The new S 350d has the classic OM656, in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine, but it now produces 286hp and 600Nm rather than the 400d's 330hp and 700Nm. The petrol engine remains unaltered from the imported S 450, producing 367hp and 500Nm from an in-line 6-cylinder turbocharged unit. Both engines are paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission and come standard with 4matic all-wheel drive.
