The facelifted MG ZS EV

The facelifted MG ZS EV has been shown, and it now has a longer driving range.

The MG ZS EV has been redesigned for international markets. The 2022 model has a slew of aesthetic modifications as well as major enhancements to the engine configuration.

• The MG ZS EV design is now consistent with the new petrol ZS.

• Gets a bigger 72kWh battery with a 437km range (WLTP)

• The interior has a digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen.

With the update, MG has brought the ZS EV's design more in line with that of its petrol counterpart (which will go on sale in India as the MG Aston on October 11), which had previously received a redesign. The narrow headlights with integrated LED Daytime Running Lights and the LED tail lamps are identical to those seen on the standard-powered ZS. The front and back bumpers have been redesigned, and new alloy wheel designs are also available.

The most noticeable difference is the body-colored, blanked-off front grille, which replaces the traditional grille design of the preceding ZS EV. While the charging port remains beneath the grille, its placement has been altered somewhat.

The interior and features of the 2022 MG ZS EV have been updated.

The revised ZS EV's interior is almost identical to that of its predecessor. Significant improvements include a wireless phone charger, a digital instrument cluster, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen that replaces the previous 8-inch model.

MG claims that it has enhanced the iSmart connection package in the infotainment system, bringing "new visuals and increased functionality." The business has also incorporated remote functionalities that allow users to control different temperature, security, charging, and other aspects via a smartphone.

MG ZS EV facelift in 2022: range and battery

The battery setup has been significantly improved with the makeover. The previous model was offered with a 44.5kWh battery pack, which provided a 261km range on Europe's strict WLTP test cycle. The basic model of the 2022 ZS EV comes with a 51kWh battery, giving it a range of 317km. Higher-end models feature a significantly bigger 72kWh battery, allowing the EV to travel 437km on a single charge.

According to MG, the 72kWh version can be charged from 0 to 100 percent in 10 hours and 30 minutes using a 7kW AC charger, or in 42 minutes using a 100kW DC fast charger.

MG hasn't released any specifics about the engine, although the pre-facelift ZS EV has a 143hp electric motor driving the front wheels.

In India, plans are being developed for a 2022 MG ZS EV facelift.

The 72kWh ZS EV will be available in Europe starting in November, followed by the 51kWh version the following year.

The ZS EV was introduced in India in early 2020, with a 44.5 kWh battery and 340km range on our MIDC test cycle (which is less rigorous than Europe's WLTP test, resulting in the greater range achieved in India for the 44.5kWh variant). The range of the all-electric MG was increased to 419 kilometres earlier this year.

MG will bring the facelifted ZS EV to India in the next months, but which engine and battery configuration will be chosen for our market remains to be seen.
